What is a teleseminar?
Overview
A teleseminar is a way to 'attend' courses held by presenters and speakers all around the world, without the cost of an airline ticket and a hotel! You will be provided with a phone number to call in to a conference call line where your presenter and fellow participants will be gathering together for the class, on a special line called a 'bridge'.
A teleseminar is essentially a great opportunity to plop yourself down on the sofa, maybe put on your pajamas, get a pen and paper if you want to take notes... and learn!
How do I know where to call?
A day or so before the call, you will receive an email with a phone number and a pin. You simply need to dial the number and it will ask you for the pin. Once you enter that you will be on the call... easy!
Can I use my speaker phone for the call?
Yes, you can, however speaker phones or 'hands free' can often be considerably noisier for other participants, so it's important to put yourself on mute before activating your speaker/hands free setting.
Depending how many people are on the call, there may be an opportunity for questions from participants. At these times, when you are off mute, it is recommended that you hold the handset, so as not to distract other participants with noise and interference.
Will there be a Moderator on the call?
Yes, there will be a moderator who will be able to mute the whole class at times when the presenter is speaking. Your moderator will provide you with instructions for putting yourself on and off mute, and anything else you need to know.
What telephone costs are involved in a teleseminar call?
The dial in number is a standard, landline phone number, so the actual call cost will depend upon your phone company or the phone card you use, which is highly recommended for calling overseas. See below for further details.
Isn't calling overseas going to be expensive?
No, not if you use a telephone card. These days it can be cheaper to call international than within your own country! Our dial in number is for the USA, so you should definitely get a phone card designed for calling here if you are dialling in from another country. Phone cards are very readily available at your local newsagent, or even online.
If calling from Australia, the 'Daybreak' card has rates to the USA for approximately 3.5c per minute (around $2.10 for an hour). This card can be found online at: http://www.cardcall.com.au/Daybreak.html
Alternatively, simply type 'phone card' into Google and you will find many options to choose from.
Can I use my cell/mobile phone?
We do not recommend a cell phone. It is best to call from a land line for the best quality sound. Feel free to use your cordless phone in your home.
How long is the teleseminar?
Each class will run for approximately one hour.
If you've never attended a teleseminar before, it can sound a little daunting, but rest assured, that it's as easy as dialing some numbers, relaxing on your sofa and learning exciting new information... Enjoy!
